Celebrate Orgullo: Oct. 1-15
Kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with 15 days of cultural events in Miami Beach. The Celebrate Orgullo festival highlights the local Hispanic LGBT community and proceeds from events benefit the LGBT Youth Scholarship Fund. Enjoy music, entertainment, food and fun. Ticket prices vary and some events are free.
Zun Zún Children Fest: Oct. 1
Head to the Miami-Dade County Auditorium for an international festival of performing arts for youth. Zun Zún Children Fest is hosted by FUNDarte and will feature international performances in theater, dance and music. Tickets start at $20 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
Fairchild’s Annual Bird Festival: Oct. 5-8
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables is hosting its annual Bird Festival. Learn from expert naturalists, conservationists and birders and participate in family-friendly and educational activities throughout the festival. There will also be food and entertainment. Do you have digital photography skills? Enter a contest for a chance to have your photos used in Fairchild marketing materials for next year’s event, displayed throughout the Garden and to win an annual Membership. Tickets to the Bird Festival are $25 per person.
Samuel Adams Octoberfest: Oct. 6-8
Celebrate Bavarian culture at the eighth annual Samuel Adams Octoberfest in Wynwood. Highlights include an authentic Bavarian Beer Hall with seasonal brews, live music and entertainment, beer games, authentic food and more. There is even an ice luge. Entry is free.
Italian Film Festival: Oct. 6-10
Enjoy the best short films and documentaries that Cinema Italia has to offer. The Italian Film Festival takes place at the Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road in South Beach. Tickets start at $12 per person.
Junior Orange Bowl Family Day: Oct. 7
Come out to Tropical Park and partake in carnival games, live entertainment, prizes, giveaways and more at the Junior Orange Bowl Family Day, hosted by the Junior Orange Bowl Committee. This family-friendly event takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Burger King Beach Run: Oct. 7
Take part in a heart-pumping 5K or 10K race at Lummus Park in Miami Beach. The Burger King Beach Run is happening in the morning on Oct. 7 and adult 5K registration starts at $30 per person. There’s also a “Kiddie Dash” for $5 per child (ages 3-8) and a post-race beach party that’s free for everyone.
The Falls Festival of the Arts: Oct. 7-8
Head out to one of Miami’s most popular shopping malls for The Falls Festival of the Arts and view works from more than 100 artists. Admission is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A Kidz Zone at The Falls will be running simultaneously with the art festival and will feature 10 interactive games for children ages 3-12, a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, a hay maze, Anita Sax Children's Books, music and more. Admission is free.
Miami Carnival Parade and Concert: Oct. 8
Dress in masquerade style and celebrate the heritage and traditions of the Caribbean at the Miami Carnival held at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds. The event includes authentic eats, live music, lively parades and contests. Ticket prices vary and online pre-sold tickets start at $30 per person | VIP Experience $100 per person.
III Points Festival: Oct. 13-15
Enjoy three days of international art and live performances during the III Points Festival at Mana Wynwood. The festival will showcase both local and international artists and will include street installations, gallery shows, lectures, panels, parties, performances and more. Tickets start at $190 per person for three-day admission.
Oktoberfest Miami: Oct. 13-15 and 20-22
Oktoberfest Miami, celebrating authentic German culture, will feature live bands from Germany and Austria, food and drinks, folk dancing, games and contests and kids’ rides. This is the original and longest-running Oktoberfest in Florida. It is also the longest continuously-running Oktoberfest in the United States and the largest German cultural event in South Florida. The event will take place rain or shine. Tickets are $10 for adults 21 & over and $5 for children and young adults ages 6 – 20.
Grovetoberfest: Oct. 14
Join Miami locals for the ultimate craft beer experience in South Florida. Located at Peacock Park in Coconut Grove, Grovetoberfest offers festival-goers the opportunity for unlimited samples from a variety of 400 local and regional brews. Tickets start at $44 for general 4 p.m. admission, $74 for “Beer Socialite” 3 p.m. admission, a souvenir pint glass and a backpack, and $89 for VIP 2 p.m. admission, a souvenir pint glass and a t-shirt.
Race for the Cure: Oct. 14
Join thousands of runners for the annual Susan G. Komen Miami Race for the Cure at Bayfront Park in Downtown. Funds are used to support breast cancer research.
Redland Growfest: Oct. 14-15
Get great cooking and gardening tips at the Redland GrowFest at the Fruit & Spice Park in Homestead. The festival will feature workshops, presentations and cooking demos. Tickets in advance are $8 per person or $10 at the door. Children under 12 are free.
South Beach Seafood Week: Oct. 17-21
Come out for the annual South Beach Seafood Festival at Lummus Park in South Beach, brought to you by Breakthru Beverage Florida. The festival helps kick off the annual Stone Crab season and will feature pop-up cafes from Miami’s best restaurants. General admission tickets start at $45 per person. VIP and Chef Showdown tickets are available as well.
Bruno Mars Concert: Oct. 18
Grammy Award-winner Bruno Mars is headlining The 24K Magic World Tour at AmericanAirlines Arena at 8 p.m. on Oct. 18. Tickets are available via TicketMaster.
Coconut Grove Seafood Festival: Oct. 21-22
Seafood lovers rejoice! The Coconut Grove Seafood Festival is back and this year it’s taking place at the waterfront Miami Marine Stadium on Virginia Key. Taste delectable dishes by some of Miami’s hottest chefs. Tickets start at $15 and parking is available for $10.
Coral Gables Hispanic Cultural Festival: Oct. 21-22
Celebrate the local Hispanic community with art, music, food and fun at the Coral Gables Hispanic Cultural Festival. For the kids, there will be face painting, bounce houses and more. Pets will love the doggie booth with water and snacks. Admission is free.
Ironman Miami: Oct. 22
Put your fitness to the test at the City Bikes Ironman 70.3 Miami. Athletes will bike, run and swim in this challenging competition. Individual registration and relay team registration is available starting at $335.
The Weeknd Concert: Oct. 24
Another Grammy Award-winner is taking the stage at AmericanAirlines Arena in Downtown. The Weeknd will perform at his Starboy: Legend of the Fall 2017 World Tour. Tickets are available via TicketMaster.
Halloween: Oct. 31
With many fun and family-friendly events happening throughout Miami-Dade County, Halloween is the perfect opportunity to score loads of candy and sweet treats. Crowds decked out in all kinds of fun costumes head to pedestrian-friendly Lincoln Road for their annual celebration.
